PSIM

What means PSIM?

🛡️PSIM (Physical Security Information Management) is a separate software category in the field of security technology. PSIM software is a higher-level control system and combines the messages of all integrated subsystems. The PSIM software from easypsim is modular in design. Typically, physical security systems such as video surveillance, fire and intrusion detection systems as well as access control systems are combined in the PSIM.

What is PSIM needed for?

The more security systems are used, the complexr the processing of alarm messages becomes. PSIM reduces complexity by merging and prioritizing alarm messages from every security system. When an event occurs, the user is guided step by step through the alarm processing.

This keeps a calm head, even in tricky situations.

Where is PSIM developed?

The PSIM of easypsim is 100% developed in Switzerland. This allows the greatest flexibility and direct communication channels. The same language – all employees speak German or Swiss German – reduces misunderstandings and creates a personal closeness, which is important for the exchange during the implementation of PSIM projects.

What are the functionalities of PSIM?

Video streams and alarm messages of the PSIM software can be accessed by mobile devices. This way, security staff can access all important information at any time, even outside the security control center.

Which alarm systems can be integrated in PSIM?

🛡️ PSIM software is modular and is configured individually.

Usually the following types of safety systems are combined in the PSIM software:

  • Intrusion detection systems (EMA)
  • Fire alarm systems (BMA)
  • Access control systems (biometric, RFID)
  • Sensors from building services engineering (filling levels, lift)
  • Telecommunications equipment
  • Video surveillance
  • Drone Defense

In each country there is a selection of safety systems that dominate the local market. In Switzerland, products from Siemens or Securiton are often used. Guardo 3000 (Siemens) or Securisafe (Securiton), for example, can be integrated into the PSIM from easypsim. In principle, all systems that have an interface (API, SDK) can be integrated into the PSIM software.

Today, due to the increasing demand of their clients, almost every manufacturer offer acces to an interface. Companies like Bosch, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Kantech, Notifier, Siemens or Securiton already offer an API interface or SDK. The list is not exhaustive.

What are the requirements for integration?

Basically, an API (interface for programming applications) or a Software Developer Kit (SDK is a collection of programming tools and program libraries used to develop software) should be available to create applications based on it.

API’s or SDK’s are usually provided by the manufacturers. The provision of interfaces or program tools can cause costs.

VMS

What means VMS?

📹 Video Management Systeme (VMS) also known as video management software or video management servers are components of a video surveillance system.

What are the functions of VMS?

Typical functions of the VMS are:

► Merging video recordings from different cameras

► Storage of video data

► Interface to view live video or access recorded video

What is the difference between PSIM and VMS?

In contrast to the VMS, PSIM integrates various security systems of different types (video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection systems, fire alarm systems, etc.). This means that alarm messages are reported directly at the moment they are triggered and can be processed cross-platform in real time.

VMS (Video Management System) is rather passive in nature. The live image from any camera can be viewed in real time, just like in PSIM. However, elements such as alarm management (workflow), which supports employees in processing alarm messages, are missing.

What ist the advantage of VMSplus?

In the classic Video Management System (VMS) the focus is on the integration of video surveillance systems. In the VMSplus, the scope of performance is larger, and additional systems for video surveillance can be integrated. VMSplus has a modular structure and can also be purchased and resold as an OEM product under license agreement.

Which systems can be integrated into VMSplus?

VMSplus is mainly used in public transport under the productname easyTRAFFIC. Usually the following systems are integrated:

  • Fire alarm systems
  • Emergency call systems
  • License plate recognition
  • Door control (connecting doors)
  • Video surveillance
  • Traffic facilities (traffic lights, signs, lighting)
  • Fan systems

VMSplus is the little brother of PSIM. The larger the scope of the integrated systems, the closer the VMSplus software gets to the PSIM control center software. The transition between PSIM and VMSplus is smooth.

Purchasing PSIM & VMS Software

How are PSIM or VMS projects implemented?

  1. PSIM demonstration and getting to know each other (free).
  2. Analysis of the existing security architecture. Task of the customer: Collect background information on locations & security systems (free).
  3. Offer preparation and contract for preview (free).
  4. Project planning and realization of the specification starts with the conclusion of the contract. The requirements specification describes how the contractor fulfils the customer’s requirements.
  5. Configuration and provision of the individual PSIM software. Task of the customer: Clarify & define alarm processes for workflow.
  6. Integration of the safety systems at the pilot site. Subsequent evaluation and rollout of the entire system.

Do you offer PSIM in the cloud?

Yes. easypsim offers PSIM in the cloud. PSIMcloud makes sense when a lot of small sites have to be integrated in one control center. 5G will have a decisive influence, in particular on the data transmission rate of high-resolution cameras.

easypsim is a specialst in the development of security software (PSIM & VMS) and installs alarm systems and video surveillance in mostly larger companies. The PSIM software has a modular structure and is adapted to the needs of the customer after the analysis of the security infrastructure.

 

 

Why is the company called easypsim?

The name easypsim was chosen based on the feedback of the first customer “what? it’s as simple as that?”. easypsim is a spin-off of the company Diligent IT Solutions AG and was created based on the demand for a simple PSIM solution that anyone can use.
